We don’t want to just grow good pianists at SCMS, we also want to build critical thinkers and problem solvers. We balance this with making sure lessons are fun and engaging above all else. Students at Surf City Music School are always excited to come back and to learn something new at their next lesson.
A simple, full sized electronic keyboard or digital piano will suffice. Check out this blog post for more information on equipment suggestions, and if you have a question please contact us here.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
The easiest way to get started with lessons is to sign up here. We will be in contact as soon as possible to find a time that works for you to come in for your first lesson.
How long is each lesson?
Lessons are typically 30 minutes each, but we offer longer 45 minute and 60 minute sessions for more advanced students. If your child is a beginner we suggest starting with a 30 minute lesson.
How do I pay for lessons?
We want payment to be as easy as possible for you. We can accept Zelle, check, cash, or credit card. When you sign up we will ask what option works best for you and will give more information on how to make the monthly payments.
Do I need a Piano? A keyboard?
We highly suggest practicing on a piano or a digital piano. Digital pianos are generally similarly priced to ordinary keyboards, but have touch-sensitive keys and feel like a real piano.

Who are your instructors/teachers?
Our instructors are Conservatory-trained performing musicians and educators. Not only do they have experience teaching students of all ages, they have experience performing in orchestras, rock bands, church worship groups and more.
