Austin Floyd
Music Director, Piano and Drum Instructor
Austin grew up in Huntington Beach and attended Peterson Elementary School, Dwyer Middle School, and Huntington Beach High School. While in high school, Austin was in the Marching Band and Drumline. He is also an Alumnus of the Academy of the Performing Arts, performing in countless Musicals and Music Ensembles such as Jazz, Symphonic and Concert.
These programs shaped who he was to become and eventually led him to the Music Conservatory at Biola University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Music in Music Performance. While attending Biola, Austin taught music at Grace Lutheran School and continued to teach private music lessons. Once graduated from Biola, Austin returned to his Alma Mater to teach at Huntington Beach High School, working with their Marching Band, Drumline and Wind Ensemble.
In addition, he began teaching MIND Institute Keyboarding classes at Perry Elementary School and then eventually moved to Smith Elementary School teaching all students grades K-5th. Austin’s experience teaching children from ages 4 years to 18 years, has given him the ability to see the impact Music Education has on children of all ages.
